Discussion on the reliability of Mixdown (the Australian magazine) at RSN

[edit]

There is a discussion on the reliability of Mixdown at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard. Any input would be helpful, the thread is WP:RSN#Mixdown (music website). -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 12:37, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FAR

[edit]

I have nominated The Supremes for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regards to the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 23:34, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all, I'm working on improving this article and someone has added a large amount of unsourced information about the soundtrack. I do believe the soundtrack itself is notable, it was filled with lots of mainstream hits, so I was wondering if someone could take a look and maybe consider if it could be split off into it's own article? Soundtrack articles aren't my area of expertise and I'd prefer to focus on the film side of things if possible. TIA Darkwarriorblake (talk) 20:52, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The album reached #50 on the Billboard 200 and was reviewed, e.g., at [1]. It almost surely merits its own article. Chubbles (talk) 04:21, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's great, if anyone would be willing to split that section off it would be much appreciated. Or I can split it off if someone else would be able to bring it up to standard as I don't know what's expected in those. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 17:08, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't got a chance to look into this, but it should at least be said that while notability is there, with just those two sources you've probably got just barely above a stub at best. More coverage should be found before anyone tries to make the article based on that alone, or else the split will have been entirely pointless. And even then, who's to say it needs to be split? I would suggest expanding the section with new sources first, and then assessing its size impact after to decide if the split is necessary. Multiple level merge

[edit]

I am proposing that Rubén Valtierra, Steve Jay, and Jon Schwartz (drummer) all be AFD'd or merged/redirected to "Weird Al" Yankovic. They have been unsourced since 2007, 2011, and 2012, respectively, with zero improvement and marginal notability outside membership in Weird Al's band. Please see Talk:"Weird Al" Yankovic. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 20:02, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Glen Campbell discography is clogged with a ton of budget-line, non-notable compilations, most of which actually have articles. I think some mass purging is needed here to AFD the non-notable ones, including everything in the collapsible list below. Many of them IMO don't even warrant redirect; for instance, Southern Nights/Basic is just a budget-line reissue of two existing albums on the same disc, and most of the Curb Records releases are cheap re-recordings. I don't think any of the Koala Records releases are even official either, as every other Koala album I've ever encountered is a bootleg. Some of these articles have existed since 2008 and have never had a source attached.

Tagging @Martin4647:, @Caldorwards4:, @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, @Derek R Bullamore:, @Mr. C.C.:, @Lumdeloo: to assist in trimming the fat here.

Thanks for the invite, but I must decline. Campbell's work is well outside my areas of interest, plus I am busy with non-Wikipedia stuff (mostly) until the beginning of October. You may need to look elsewhere. Sorry. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 20:26, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good evening TenPoundHammer, I agree that there is some fat to be trimmed. But I’m afraid you also deleted some official releases which should be included. Also, some of the compilation albums are not actually compilation albums as such. They contain previously unreleased material that was released by companies who owned it. They cannot exactly count as official releases but should be mentioned somewhere (some of them are notable enough to justify their own article as well). Lumdeloo (talk) 19:27, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have restores the live albums and album appearance sections for now. I will double check for releases that can be omitted. The compilations albums I will go through manually. Lumdeloo (talk) 19:55, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
